Myroslav Vasilyovich Kindrachuk
Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of Science and Technology, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the National Aviation University. Research interest – tribomaterial science and tribotechnical maintenance of reliability and durability of mechanical engineering products.
He was awarded the medal “In memory of the 1500th anniversary of Kyiv” (2002), the honors of the NAU “For conscientious work” and “75 years of NAU”, honourable mention of Kiyv mayor.
In 1971 he graduated from the Kiev Polytechnic Institute. He began his career at the Kyiv Machine-Tool Plant (1971-1989), where he worked as an engineer-technologist of heat-treatment shop, an engineer of plant central laboratory, a deputy mayor metallurgist.
He began his scientific activity in 1973 studying at the postgraduate course of the Aviation Material Science Department of the Kiev Institute of Civil Engineering Aviation (now – National Aviation University). In 1982 he defended his Ph.D. thesis in the specialty of “Friction and wear in machines”, and in 1996 he defended his doctoral thesis in the specialties of “Metallurgy and Heat Treatment of Metals” and “Friction and Wear in Machines”. In 1997 he achieved a professor degree.
From 1989 to 2003, his scientific and teaching activity dealed with the Faculty of Physical Engineering in the NTUU “KPI”, where he started as a senior research fellow and finished as a professor of the metallurgy and heat treatment department. By his participation, based on theoretical concepts of the structural theory of wear resistance of materials, the theory and practice of creating new alloys and methods for obtaining optimal structural sates of surfaces with high tribotechnical properties have been developed.
In cooperation with scientists of the Phase Equilibrium Department of Metal Physics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine he joined to the creation and implementation of a new class of wear-resistant protective materials on the basis of eutectic iron alloys with incarnation refractory phases. According to tribotechnical properties, eutectic coatings became the true competitors of coatings from known alloys (ПГ-12Н, ПГ-10К, foreign type analogues Colmonoy, Triboloy, Stellite), they are able to solve complex tasks that arise during exploitation.
These studies are implemented in the aviation enterprises, in the heat and power, machine tool, metallurgical, municipal mechanical engineering and other industries.
In recent years, he has been developing and inventing successfully a number of promising technologies for the creation wear-resistant nanocomposite, gradient and discrete coatings by combined methods including deformation, laser and chemical-thermal processing. He is co-author of the scientific discovery in the field of tribology, entitled “The phenomenona of thermal stabilization in metal-polymer friction pairs.”
In 2016 the head of the Department M.V. Kindrachuk as a member of scientific group became the Laureate of State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology for the work “Creation and introduction of a new class of eutectic composite materials in innovative technologies of mechanical engineering enterprises”.
On 7th March 2018 M.V. Kindrachuk was elected as a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the Division of Physical and Technical Problems of Material Science.
